Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity – American Civil Rights Activist, Martin Luther King

Nothing is as suicidal as being ignorant; majority of what kills in life has no hands and legs which implies that they are non-living things. Some survived the agony of gunshots, some triumphed over the snares of kidnappers, some endured the pains of a fatal accident but many could not withstand the smirk of ignorance. Ignorance is a terrible disease which comfortably infects men who have got no zeal to consume knowledge. In a generation or society where knowledge is not celebrated, ignorance reigns supreme with great confidence.

Life is a school where only those who are knowledgeable about what they are passing through will be assured of promotion to the next class. Ignorance stops you from knowing what to do to gain mastery of life. Ignorance announces mediocrity in its entirety and paints it as the best and only option. Plunging into a deep river without a prior knowledge of swimming is tantamount to having a breakfast with death. Ignorance is terrible and it really sucks when men embrace it with boldness.

The suicidal pill - Ignorance!

The suicidal pill – Ignorance!

Many have stayed unemployable not because there are no jobs but basically because they have remained stagnant in the pool of ignorance. You have got a good grade in school, a bounty of work experience but painful if you don’t stay current and know the new trends in your field. Quite a number of people have failed interviews all because of ignorance. A new level of knowledge means overcoming a level of ignorance and standing as the giant to reckon with in your field. Keep learning and stay current.

Marriages have crashed all because of ignorance stemming from the inability of both parties to learn and imbibe the virtues and characters needed for a successful marriage. If you get married and you don’t know what you are expected to do in order to enable its survival, you are to be blamed. You are expected to equip yourself with the necessary tools for a befitting marriage. Don’t step into new waters of life without understanding its terrain and how to navigate your way through. You want to run a marriage like a relationship between teenagers. Boys who step into marriage under a purported nomenclature of men will never have a successful marriage. Boys who never embrace knowledge to climb on the ladders of maturity will never become men. It is simply impossible! You become a man by the way you think, reason and speak and all these characteristics stem from the depth of knowledge in an individual.

In a bid to triumph over ignorance, don’t be too ashamed to confess and accept how ignorant you are. Don’t let it be recorded that the autopsy of your death shows ignorance as the main cause. Chase knowledge, embrace wisdom, seek understanding and stand on the highways of life as an updated man loaded with enough weapons to conquer the challenges of life. Beware of the subtle pride which comes with knowledge because it will only take you back to square one. A more complicated state of ignorance plus pride is suicidal because he thinks he knows all and does not need the help of others. Stay humble and keep learning daily.
